Chandler Highway Upgrade
Chandler Highway Upgrade
As part of the $110 million ‘Chandler Highway Upgrade’ project commissioned by the Victorian Government, Eastern Plant Hire has been proud to actively work toward improving local infrastructure that will see the improved traffic flow and smoother journey’s into Melbourne’s inner north.
The Chandler Highway Upgrade is on track to be one of the most successful projects of its kind with operations starting in 2017 and expected to finish late 2019. This project aims to relieve excessive congestion which affects over 44,000 daily road users and is set to see significant reductions in peak time queuing periods, general travel time, and provide room for the future growth of traffic volume.
The upgrade of Chandler Highway will see the road expanded to six lanes alongside a new bridge aimed to help improve cycling and pedestrian walkways. The upgrade will also see:
- Upgrade to the existing Heidelberg Road and Chandler Highway intersection
- Installation of new traffic lights at the Chandler Highway and Yarra Boulevard intersection
- Greatly enhanced cycling paths and pedestrian travel routes
- Improved stormwater drainage and increased lighting solutions
Eastern Plant hire is proud to be apart of such a dedicated team, working tirelessly to provide trucks and other earthmoving equipment which worked to meet vital construction deadlines. The EPH Crew continues to offer full support in the closing months of the highway upgrade helping to transport valuable fill and debris to and from the worksite.
As it stands, the Chandler Highway has seen all major work successfully completed with final layers of asphalt layers, kerb work, and line markings being implemented throughout the month of July 2019. While the heritage bridge conversion will continue further into 2019, Eastern Plant Hire will be here the rest of the way offering full support.
