Hoddle Street Streamlining

Our Work on the Hoddle Street Streamlining

Over the past year Eastern Plant Hire have been working on the Hoddle Street Streamlining, in particular, the B Package. The streamlining, estimated at $110 million, creates a safer corridor for both cars and pedestrians. Being at the heart of travel areas for the MCG, AAMI Park and Hisense Arena it is important to create minimal disruption but also complete comprehensive updates that will cater to present and future transport needs.

The Hoddle Street Streamlining Package B, estimated at $44 million, includes the design and construction of a ‘free-flow interchange’ at Swan Street intersection on Hoddle St and an upgrade of Brunton Avenue. The improvements also include new pedestrian paths and crossings and dedicated bus and tram lanes to prioritise alternative transport methods. The upgrades will reduce peak hour traffic for the 330,000 people who travel along and across the road every day.

Eastern Plant Hire have been providing trucks and earthmoving equipment for the duration of the project. Our trucks and experienced drivers are able to navigate the busy inner-city streets to move materials both to and from the site. Materials cartage is a vital part of construction work, especially when working on functioning roads where there is no space to stockpile materials. Our experience in materials handling ensures the site is always clear of material and there is always another truck ready to go.

The Hoddle Street Streamlining provides a safer and faster transport corridor into and out of the CBD as well as safer journeys for pedestrians and cyclists. This is especially important as the area continues to grow as a major sporting and events precinct. Providing new pedestrian paths that can accommodate event goers is just as important for the upgrades as faster commutes. Due for completion in August 2019 the Hoddle Street Streamlining will vastly improve the area for all that use it.
