Aviation Road Level Crossing Removal

Our Work on the Aviation Road Level Crossing Removal

As part of the Level Crossing Removal Project in Victoria Eastern Plant Hire have been working on the first stage of the Aviation Road Level Crossing Removal. This particular level crossing removal at Aviation Road includes the construction of a motor bridge over the Werribee line and a pedestrian underpass under the line which will also connect to Aircraft Station. The first stage of the project is set to take two years to complete, starting in 2018 and finishing in 2020.

The first stage of the Aviation Road Level Crossing Removal includes the majority part of the construction works to ensure that the crossing is removed as quickly as possible. Before works started the level crossing had 7000 driver cross through it each day, with major delays being common during peak hour. The works included in the first stage of the Aviation Road Level Crossing Removal are:

  • a new road bridge
  • on-road bike lanes and pedestrian path, and
  • a new shared-use path along Maher Road.

The second stage of the Aviation Road Level Crossing Removal will see the pedestrian underpass built to provide new access across the Werribee line and to Aircraft Station. The work was split in two to ensure as little disruption for road and rail users as possible. As Level Crossing Removal works take over Melbourne, Eastern Plant Hire are providing trucks and earthmoving equipment to get the vital construction work done on time and on budget.
